Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. This conversion runs entirely inside your browser using your own device’s processing power. The file never leaves your computer or phone, which is why it also works when your connection drops.
Will the quality drop?
M4A and MP3 are both compressed formats, so converting between them loses a little. At 128 kbps or more the difference is not audible for speech.
Can I convert a long recording?
Yes. Length is limited by your device’s memory, not by a server quota. An hour-long memo takes a minute or two on a phone.
