Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. This conversion runs entirely inside your browser using your own device’s processing power. The file never leaves your computer or phone, which is why it also works when your connection drops.
Does cutting an MP3 lose quality?
The audio is decoded and re-encoded at the bitrate you choose (128 kbit/s by default, up to 256 for music). For speech the difference is inaudible; for a music master choose WAV, which loses nothing further.
Can I cut the audio out of a video?
Yes. Add the MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV; only its sound is read, and the cut is saved as MP3 or WAV.
How precise is the cut?
To a tenth of a second by the fields, and finer by the handles — the waveform lets you land on the pause between two words.
