Three compression levels cover the real cases: Store adds no compression and is instant, which is right for photos, videos and PDFs that are already compressed; Normal is the everyday setting; Maximum squeezes text, spreadsheets and documents a little further at the cost of time. The result shows the size before and after, so you know what you gained.
The archive is built on your device with a streaming ZIP writer, so a few hundred megabytes are no problem on a laptop. Because the finished archive has to sit in the browser’s memory before it can be saved, very large totals — above a gigabyte — are better zipped in a few batches, each a complete archive on its own; the tool says so when you get there.

Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. This conversion runs entirely inside your browser using your own device’s processing power. The file never leaves your computer or phone, which is why it also works when your connection drops.
Can I zip a folder with its sub-folders?
Yes. Press Add a folder and pick it; the folder structure is kept inside the archive exactly as on your disk. Dragging a folder onto the page adds the files it contains directly.
Which compression level should I use?
Store for photos, videos, PDFs and other files that are already compressed — compressing them again gains nothing and takes time. Normal for a mix. Maximum for text-heavy files such as CSV, JSON, logs or Office documents, where the extra squeeze is real.
Is there a size limit?
The limit is your device’s memory, not the format. Hundreds of megabytes work on a normal laptop; above about a gigabyte in total, zip in batches — each batch is a complete ZIP, and nothing needs joining later.
Can I set a password?
Not here. This tool writes standard, unencrypted ZIP archives that open everywhere.
