Drop a PDF and get its text as a plain .txt file you can paste anywhere: paragraphs in reading order, tables as tab-separated rows, one page after another. Nothing is uploaded; the reading happens in your browser.
Right-to-left text — Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Urdu — comes out in the right order, and the ligature codes some PDF generators use are turned back into ordinary letters, so the result is searchable and editable rather than a mirrored jumble.
This reads the text a PDF already contains. A scanned PDF is a picture of a page and has no text to extract; for those, use OCR, which reads the letters from the image.

Frequently asked questions
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs inside your browser on your own device. The file never leaves your computer or phone, which is also why the tool keeps working when the connection drops.
The result is empty — why?
The PDF is a scan: it holds an image of each page and no text layer. Run it through PDF OCR instead, which reads the characters from the image.
Does it keep the formatting?
Plain text has no formatting by definition — that is the point of it. If you want headings, bold and tables preserved, convert to Word or to Markdown instead.
Is there a page limit?
No. A 300-page book takes about half a minute on a laptop; the page counter shows progress.
