A crop removes pixels rather than squeezing them, so what stays keeps its sharpness and its proportions. The box always snaps to even pixel sizes, which H.264 requires, and the exact left, top, width and height are shown as numbers you can also type.

Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. This conversion runs entirely inside your browser using your own device’s processing power. The file never leaves your computer or phone, which is why it also works when your connection drops.
How do I make a landscape video vertical for TikTok or Reels?
Choose 9:16. The tallest 9:16 box that fits appears in the middle of the frame; drag it left or right over the subject and press Crop. The output is 9:16 with no black bars — the sides outside the box are simply removed.
Does cropping reduce the quality?
The pixels inside the box are kept at their original resolution and re-encoded to H.264 at a visually transparent quality setting. Nothing is scaled, so nothing goes soft.
The preview says my browser cannot show this format — can I still crop?
Yes. Some containers (MKV, AVI, VOB…) cannot be shown by the browser's own player, but the video engine still reads the frame size. Press "Inspect this file first" and the crop box appears over a plain frame; position it with the numbers or by dragging.
