“File exceeds the maximum size.” The form does not say how to fix it, and the limit is rarely the same twice: a visa portal wants 100 KB, a bank 200 KB, a university 2 MB, a messaging app 25 MB. Drop the file here, type the number the form shows, and download one that fits.

Frequently asked questions
Is my document uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read and compressed inside your browser; it never leaves your device. That is deliberate: passport scans, bank statements and contracts should not pass through a stranger’s server just to get smaller.
Which limits do portals actually use?
The numbers that come up most: 100 KB for visa and university document uploads; 200 KB for bank KYC and ID scans; 300–500 KB for job and tender attachments; 1–2 MB for embassy and government portals; 25 MB for email attachments and Discord; 50–100 MB for learning platforms. It still will not fit — what now?
For a PDF, delete the pages you do not need or split it into parts that each fit. For a photo, reduce the pixel dimensions as well as the quality; a 1,000-pixel-wide photo looks sharp at 100 KB, a 4,000-pixel one does not. For a video, lower the resolution to 720p.
Will the document still be readable?
Text pages stay crisp at almost any limit. Scanned photographs and colour brochures soften as the limit gets tighter; the tool shows you the result before you download so you can judge.
