A visa application is three or four files, each with its own rule: a photo at exact pixel dimensions and a KB cap, a passport scan that must stay legible under 100 or 200 KB, bank statements and letters as PDFs under 1 or 2 MB. Portals reject a file without saying which rule it broke. This page walks the set in order.

Is my document uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read and compressed inside your browser; it never leaves your device. That is deliberate: passport scans, bank statements and contracts should not pass through a stranger’s server just to get smaller.
What sizes do embassies commonly ask for?
The US DV lottery and DS-160 want a 600 × 600 pixel JPEG under 240 KB. Schengen portals mostly want 35 × 45 mm photos and PDFs under 2 MB per attachment. India’s e-Visa caps the photo at 1 MB and PDFs at 300 KB. Gulf portals commonly cap scans at 100–200 KB. My passport scan becomes unreadable at 100 KB
Scan or photograph only the data page, crop tightly to it, and keep it in colour at about 1,000 pixels wide. That combination stays readable at 100 KB; a full-resolution scan of the whole page spread does not.
Can I combine several documents into one file?
