“Form fields only” writes each field’s value permanently into the page and removes the field. The text stays text: selectable, searchable, sharp at any zoom, and the file barely changes size. This is the right choice for almost every filled form.
“Everything” renders each page as a picture at 150, 200 or 300 DPI and rebuilds the PDF from those images. Fields, comments, stamps, layers and links are all baked in and cannot be changed or extracted — but the text turns into pixels, so it is no longer selectable or searchable, and the file usually gets bigger. The page shows the size before and after so you can decide.

Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. This conversion runs entirely inside your browser using your own device’s processing power. The file never leaves your computer or phone, which is why it also works when your connection drops.
Which option should I choose?
Form fields only, unless someone has told you the whole page must be uneditable or you need comments and stamps fixed in place. Fields-only keeps real text; everything-as-images does not.
Will the flattened form keep the text I typed?
Yes. Each field’s current value is drawn onto the page exactly where the field was. Empty fields simply disappear.
Is flattening the same as protecting a PDF?
No. Flattening removes the editable structure, it does not add a password or encryption. Once the pages are images, though, there is no field, comment or layer left for anyone to change.
